Throughout the year at Home Farm we are fortunate enough to be visited by many species of garden birds. We do our best to encourage them by placing a number of feeding stations at different spots in the garden. This includes some window feeders in the dinning room which allows guests to view "our birds" having their breakfast or dinner whilst they are having theirs. What's on view very much depends on the time of year, but we have recorded almost forty species of birds over the years. Some of our more regular and popular visitors include blue-tits, coal-tits, robins, greenfinches, goldfinches, and siskins along with a family of red spotted woodpeckers. Families of tree-sparrows can often be seen feeding from the fat balls near to the dinning room. Just occasionally we are visited by some larger birds and our bird table plays host to a pair of local buzzards and as I type there are three red kites circling overhead! For those guests whose interest in birds wants to take them further afield, the wide variety of habitats we have close by provides many excellent birding opportunities no matter what the season. We are happy to provided our guests with any help and advice we can give. A set of binoculars is available for loan.
